    For street or for racing?

Fo the street, a standard replacment gas-charged Monroe or Gabriel is excellent for the suspensions of these cars. They're about $11.00 each. No need for expensive Konis or KYBs.

It makes no sense how some people put expensive shocks on Mavericks with no other suspension upgrades.

If you're using your car for a lot of drag racing, You'll want something different, and probably with 90/10 bias up front...

I just put Motorcrafts in my Grabber ... they seem OK and are cheap ...

what about a occasional drive around town.. and a trip to the drag strip occasionally... would a 90/10 or 80/20 be good?

i have the basic shocks from autozone and they have a lot of movement in there.. of course i am using basic 302 springs that i cut one link out of.. so i am sure i could go with a stiffer spring but what will that do to weight transfer?

    thanks

I have KYB's on the front & rear. They ride good enough considering I drive hard from time to time. My suspension is not stock either.

    What's a good shock?

You're wife/girlfriend saying, "Honey, I insist that you let me stab that transmission for you while you relax and enjoy a couple of cold ones. I'll be right back with a chilled mug - but let me untie those boots of yours first."

I have the KYB Gas-A-Just along with other suspension upgrades-that's for you TL.
They are stiff-that along with the other upgrades make it handle more than I need
it to. But, it is a stiff ride. Hitting bumps is not fun.

I noticed that suspension has gotten harsh also. It didn't matter to me. The wheels are so close to the fenders that I needed that.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
Harsh.. what a bunch of #@$$^! :p j/k!!! KYB harsh? that ain't nothing! try driving on coil overs.. :D if you want a nice ride buy a new car :D

IMO even for a every day car i think KYBs still make a differance with or without stock suspension... been there done that... i still like that KYB's and for $24.99 you can't get a better handling ride! but if your worried the ride or if your a #@$$^! :p j/k!!!! just get Monroes for like 11 bucks.

also you guys have to know they do make two differant KYB's

    Gas-A-Just

    and GR-2s

GR-2 have a way softer ride and now they only make GR-2s for the rear of our cars.. :( no more Gas-A-Just ones for the rears.

If you want plush, you can always buy a 67-70 cougar. they ride pretty plush for a car this size. it was nicer than my uncles 65 mustang or the other ones 69 mustang. not sure why other than a little extra weight or the stance. i personally like to feel the curves and a few bumps.
