I'm currently building up my 92 cobra 302 shortblock to a complete. I have everything (gt40 heads, edelbrock 600cfm) and all the bolt ons, but don't have an intake. I keep hearing there are hood clearance issues with some. I was looking into a Edelbrock Victor Jr, or Weiand Stealth. Anyone have any experience with these? Or know of another route I should take? Secondly, I need to upgrade my 7.5 rear end. I've looked through craigslist and there are no rearends except one 66 mustang 8". Where is the best place to get a solid rearend. Keep in mind I'm on a budget. And lastly, does anyone sell 302 swap kits anymore or should I just get all the parts separately? Sorry if these are general/dumb questions, but I couldn't find definite answers from my searches. Thanks guys!
What are you referring to when you say 302 swap kit? The frame mounts are different, but can be used... and you'd just need to pickup a set of motor mounts from your local parts store... then your choice of header (do a search) On the intake, My hood had a whole cut in it, and I ran a Weiand Xcellerator and it didnt even come close to hitting where the hood would have been. Im sure someone can help you with this however. If you have a single hump transmission cross member you might want to build one or purchase one from a later v8 car, so your exhaust won't be a mess and possibly drag the ground. I hope this answers some of your questions. I don't have an 8'' rearend or know where any is that aren't in use for a maverick so I cant help you there.
I just installed a roller motor in my 74 and it has the perfomer rpm air gap intake. ive hear these are within just a couple horse power of victor series intakes and alot better on the street. mine fits fine but I cannot run a carb spacer and i have to use edelbrocks pro-flo air filter (the little triangle shaped one). I have a grabber hood also. unless your rat the track every week there isnt really a need for a single plane intake. good luck.
the 66 mustang 8" is 57.25" long, the maverick is 56.5" so you can use it the only thing is that it has a taper on the axle tube, so i think you'd have to use the mustang shock plates as well. http://www.hipomustang.com/default2.asp?page=18
