The first couple threads inside the power steering control valve where the center link screws in are buggered up and need to be chased. Does anyone know with certainty what tap and die size to use. Using my calipers I measured the overall diameter of the threads on the center link to be 0.740 inch. I count 20 tpi using a crude method. I took the center link to my friendly neighborhood machine shop to see if he could tell. According to his thread counter he said the threads only matched up with a metric gauge. I'm guessing that the odds of finding a metric part on a 42 yr old American car are pretty slim, but who knows? What's frustrating is I've been waiting for the weekend to put the front suspension back together on the 72 Comet and the first piece of the reassembly stopped me cold. Time to move over to the Grabber and work on the AC/heater box.
