I took the radiator for testing and he said it was clogged and needed rodding out. Well i just got it back and looked in the top and the same pepples are still there from before! Does that mean i need to take it back or what? I don't even know what rodding out is. Plus he said it's not even a maverick radiator but didnt know what it is. Anyone know?
rodding the radiator: The top and sometimes, the bottom tank of the radiator is removed. The core is then cleaned by passing a cleaning rod down through the tubes. This is done when radiators are quite clogged with rust, scale, and various mineral deposit" reference
You are usually better off re-coring the radiator. Those pebbles look like they are loose, and you probably have a bunch wandering aroung your cooling system. Rodding removes all the rust and scale, and your tubes look pretty clean now. The rust and scale are far worse than a few loose pebbles...
How did he KNOW it is not a Maverick rad.? It could be from most any late 60s to early 70s Ford. Can you find a part# stamped into it? Anyway you should plan on a new rad. when your budget allows.
