I'm in the process of building my 302 motor and so far I've got a holley 600, a Weiand 180 intake, an MSD distributor w/a blaster coil, 9.5:1 hyper-utectic postons and some shorty headers. I'm in the process of getting my grubby little hands on a set of slightly worked 289 heads.
My question: What kind of cam do you think I should be running?
i.e. : lift/duration. (I don't mind having to get a mild stall converter if need be) I don't plan on doing too much highway cruising. Mostly boulevard style cruizin'. Also, what rear end gears are you running with your set-up?
I also want to run some roller rockers. What size do I get? 1.6/1.7 or is there another size?
I would just like to know what the collective is running and how well their combos work.

    Thanks in advance.

I think my current Cam would be okay for you although a bit on the lumpy side. This is just a weekend car right?
228* at .050 both intake and exhaust, .512 lift hydraulic. 112* centerline
power comes in around 2500-3000 but hard to tell since my converter stalls at 32-3500.
If you have your carburetor dialed in just right you get a really mean sounding 6-700 rpm idle.
Probably ought to get some decent valvesprings though. the stockers will be way to tired to handle the lift for long.
As far as rocker ratio, I'd stick with 1.6 unless whatever cam you choose is too tame for you, but make sure you do the math (lobe lift x rocker ratio = valve lift) to figure out what your new lift will be so you can make sure you have ample piston to valve clearance.
The Crane cams part number for my cam is 130062
    Hope this helps.

    not yet.

I ended up rebuilding the front end first and then I wanted to take the car home for a while. It had been at work well over a month.
    Soon, soon soon.

Ordered my RPM heads yesterday! :D

Back on topic, I am running an Extreme Energy Comp Cams grind, which I think is the XE262. Good street cam with stock converter and manifolds.
