I recently weighed my Maverick 2760lbs with a nearly full tank of gas. Thats about what I estimated the weight to be. All stock with a 302 up frount. Missing the under part of the dash and glove box. But still 2760lbs is really light for a V8 car. In the future im planning on getting a grabber fiberglass hood from token fiberglass, that'll take a bit of weight off the frount and give it a good look.

Other the fiberglass panels what other weight reduction things does everyone do?

aluminum wheels take weight off and unsprung weight is very important. if practical for you, moving the battery to the trunk is the same as removing twice its weight, performance-wise. so a 40# battery moved takes 40 off the front and puts the 40 over the rear wheels. there are safety rule issues involved in moving it, tho. the later year mavs can lose a lot by chiseling the impact bars out of the doors.

i only use mine at the track, but i took out the rear seat, put in 2 racing bucket seats, put on aluminum wheels, removed sway bar, battery in the trunk, removed gas tank, put in 5 gallon fuel cell, aluminum heads, aluminum radiator, removed heater motor, no rugs, fiberglass hood, headers with dynomax mufflers, no exhaust pipes after the mufflers. probably a few other things i can't remember right now. even tried putting the driver on a diet. that didn't work too well. i weighed the car at the track recently, before the new engine with aluminum heads and it was 2600#. oh yeah, it's a 71 so it has the small bumpers. been thinking of fiberglass bumpers too.:D

I figure I'm worth about a tenth compared to the average drag racer. 120lbs on my tubbiest day.

Before you ask, this was around a year ago and I was trying to coax our new kitten (now a huge beast) out from under the recliner.

I see it, I see it! :bananaman

I weighed my car at 3160 with me in it. I've got AC, full interior, that was with my toploader trans and cast iron bellhousing, plus the pretty heavy Versailles rear. Now I have a lighter T5 and buckets, haven't reweighed.

I'm right under 160, so my car was at the 3k mark.

    Don-

Both still there just as always, although state street looks like a freeway with slow traffic now since they repaved. Bellingham has changed a lot in just the past five or six years, but that little stretch of State street is still the same old businesses.
I really like this town. I hope they don't ruin it.
