    Hello Maverick/Comet enthusiasts!

First, let me tell you all that I am a total newbee when it comes to cars. I blame my father! He was a Triumph (TR4 and TR6) owner and those things ran half the time and spent the other half in “Ye Olde British Car Shoppe” waiting for some part to be shipped from across the pond. Needless to say, I never got to spend that father/son quality time under the hood of a good old American car and I never learned a thing about cars.

LOL! …. Just kidding! … I was just into computers instead!

Honestly, I’ve always wanted to learn about cars but for some reason it never became a priority (I had too many reliable cars I guess?). Well I finally decided to do something about it! ...... Historically, some of humanities greatest technological advances were made in face of extreme adversity (i.e. WW2, American Civil War, exc.). Armed with that knowledge I made a slight alteration in my transportation ...... I got rid of my 2002 Acura and purchased a beautiful yellow 2 door 1972 Comet for $600.00! The deal closer for me was the previous owners warning that she was gonna need some work.

Now, this is where the “WARNING!” comes in. I will definitely be lurking through this and other forums like it in my personal war with automotive ignorance. So if you ever come across one of my posts and its titled something like “How do I fill the horn fluid on a 72 Comet” You have all been warned and I officially wash my hands of it!

BTW: First time I got gas it took me a good 5 or 10 minutes of walking around my car before a nice lady pointed it out to me.

    I’m winning!
    ;) Mali

Just a second ... let me take some notes!
    stuff to check….
    1. Muffler Bearings
    2. Horn fuild next to blinker fluid ... yes yes....and! check the firewall gaskets for rips and tears…. Yes I will do that!
    3. Must have correct wrench size opening valve for the frame rail cooling system ... How would I know what size it is? he said that I only need a correct size when opening it anyway!
    4. Check the loose nut behind the wheel... I wonder which wheel? Oh well I better check them all. HEHEHE Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I’m still trying to find that Light Bulb Repair Kit my Chief send me for when I was in the navy ;)

Hopefully I will get some pictures up today or tonight. rayzor: yes before I screw the car up ;P

Corbin: are there any special California Maverick and Comet group or clubs?

Don: I have some bad news…..saint james infirmary burnt down about 8 years ago? I think? Yeah its gone, and they never rebuilt it

Welcome to the board.:Welcome: Good to have another crazy in the gang.:) If you want to save yourself some money when tune up time comes around, invest in a sparkplug rebuild kit. You'll never have to buy plugs again.:D

Thanks for the welcom Jean, and its good to be another crazy in a gang :coco:...

I have been browsing through forums and following links to some of the posters Mav/Comet homepages…. And WoW…. A bunch of y’all got some slick cars! …. I want mine to be all purdy too! Oh yeah, I saw a Comet GT...I want the hood like that it has a "mouth" or intake or whatever its called? Is it possible to put a 72 GT hood on a regular 72 Comet?

You don't need a whole hood. What you are seeing on the Comet GT hood is a bolt on hood scoop. They were stock on the GT's.

Absolutely, all Maverick and Comet hoods are interchangeable.

Just the maverick hoods dont match the comet grille, and vis versa but they will fit
Welcome aboard. Make sure you check the right front leaf spring, they are bad about bending ;)
