Start locally. The most successful political campaigns are those that focus on the small groups working the local towns and counties. They call it grass roots. Nothing is ever successfully done on a national level unless everyone involved is happy on the local level. I've said all this to bring up this idea. Let's really work to make The state chapters thriving organizations. We have more contact with each other on a local level than we ever will on a national level. We need to get together regularly and plan regular activities within our local areas. We need to work to have a Maverick presence at every big local car show in your state and the surrounding states. Those of us who are and will drag race, need to show up at NMRA, FunFord, and other similar events. And, those that don't race need to try to show up to support those who are. If Rick Porter comes to Augusta, GA, the guys from GA (especially me) needs to try to make that 3 hour drive to support him. A strong national Maverick presence begins with a strong local presence.

I'm willing to help, including time, monetarily, and with other resources, to get active state directors in every state and active members in every state. I ain't shutting up, so I need to put up.

Great idea, but can it work or will you simply wind up with a number of smaller groups? I will likely work in Georgia where you already have a large number of people. Just look at the states with a small number of members from this forum. (And yes I am aware that not everyone uses a computer and that quite a few are not even members of MCCI) http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=25452

I for one am looking forward to a nice turnout at the Street Machine Nationals in Springfield, MO on September 15-17. And will be traveling to Ohio for the Cookout at Lonnies house.

Every organization has smaller groups. You have the mailroom, maintenance, administrative, customer service, sales and marketing, etc. All of these function separately yet as a company whole.

What kind of club is it when you are familiar with someone in TX (either through this forum or a round-Up), but don't know the member in the town 100 miles from you.

It will work if we want it to work. BTW, post office still delivers mail and most everybody has at least one phone.

But in your example each of those have a manager, director or VP that is allowed to make decisions on behalf of the company.

That's where the state directors come in. For this to work, each state will need an active state director. MCCI already has this structure in place.

Your are correct, but as long as the proper structure is in place. A wise man once said "No church, group, or company is any stronger than its foundation."
IMO MCCI needs some repairs to it's foundation.

My initial post of this thread is meant to address that foundation issue. It will work, if we are willing to work it.

The intent of this thread was to offer an idea to improve MCCI. I was not lookng for something to repair. Every club can use improvement. The death knell of any organization is "We've never done it that way before" and "We've always done it this way." If you're not growing and improving; you're dying.

I intended this thread to be an idea for the MCCI. That is why I placed it here. I mistakenly assumed that a suggestion in the club section of the forum would be just that.

why not ask some of the past state reps which have left ,that were very involved with the club .

I'm sure they would be able to answer what their main issues were and why they also left the mcci.chances are its the same things that john has stated in his reasons for starting a new organization.

All officers and state reps have had their contact info published since well before I was in the club. I remember several of your suggestions and they were good ones. (y)
