Is it a good ideal to not have a valley pan under a intake? im asking because im putting a edlebrock on and it says to remove the stock one all together which is a one piece valley pan gasket , but wouldnt not having one splash oil all underneath the intake? or is there a gasket i can use with my edelbrock intake that is like the stock one? because all i got is the standard ones which is 2 gaskets that go on the left and right of the intake? sorry for this long winded question
If your doing a small block ford...There is no vally pan. If its for your charger and its a B or RB engine. They have a seperate and distinct vally pan. Yes oil will splash on the underside of the intake...fact of life and not really important unless you are building an all out racing engine and want to keep the charge cool in the intake.
well its a 351c... its not my car im helping out a friend he has a 76 mav and hes wanting to put that in his car (not going to help him with that headache) ive read on it some, and some people say yes put it on, some people say no it doesnt matter so im confused
this is where edelbrock says dont use it... http://www.jegs.com/InstallationInstructions/300/350/350-2760.pdf
Listen to Edelbrock. On my 460 the engine builder insisted on a valley pan gasket.Engine smoked like the valve seals were gone.Replaced the intake with Edelbrock gaskets no valley pan ,no smoke.
If you are worried about that, get the Performer Air-Gap manifold. It's the next step I want to do to my 351W.
