my first problem is needing to fill the holes in the intake manifold. i have the edelbrock manifold 7121 of the performer rpm series, good fit, other than having one too many holes for like water temp and flow, or vacuum lines. not sure what goes where. the factory intake has 3 ports for pipe fittings but the edelbrock one has 4 ports. other than the main ones .... intake, thermostat (upper radiator hose) and the elbow directly behind the thermostat on this particular intake, which is obviously a water port, I AM LOST. if someone could help me sort this out i would be very appreciative of the help. i have a 1972 maverick 302 V-8 My problem is where the carb is , is a hole for ? it doesnt resemble the same factory hole (horizontal almost) at the throat of the intake below the carb. in the exact location on the factory intake. what goes there? factory intake has a main fitting hole with 2 smaller holes at the base of this fitting hole( vacuum i assume) but the edelbrock intake has a through hole , no extra holes at the base of this fitting hole. there is another hole behind that previous hole located near where the throttle cable gets mounted on the intake manifold. the factory intake didnt have any sort of port there , should i plug it or try to utilize this as an upgrade? also what real damage would be caused if i plugged all holes in the intake other than the main upper water hose for the radiator (thermostat) and the carb. . basically , i have this extra hole in the intake and its throwing me off , if i were to plug it off, would that damage the engine or carburator? i plan to run a temp gauge at least but i just need an adapter for the current one to be used , (drivers side front of intake). how crucial is the vacuum system on the 72 mav 302 engine ? i wanna get it runnin again and soon. obviously . sorry i am rambling but i wanna be very clear of what i need to do. also i need a good place to order the lines or advice on using braided lines, for the transmission cooler lines as to not have to bend steel lines myself , this isnt going to be a show car. the website for rightstuffdetails.com didnt seem to be very good for ordering the lines from , which ones should i order from them , i didnt see any for a maverick . i would rather just use braided lines for routing and simplicity. thank you for any help . i can be reached at 260 226 5509, text mainly . i work 12 hour days so i cant really devote much time for talking . i very truly appreciate any help or advice that can be offered/given. also anyone in the lower alabama area . i am near the mobile area so a road trip for a part run would be kinda fun. if you have anything that might just be taking up space and you wanna part with for cheap let me know . i respond very quickly to texts. thank you for your time and help in advance.
