Re-check your wiring, sounds like you missed something.

Gap too big? Double check the gap between the sensor and the reluctor ring. Your plate on the distributor could be loose and the sensor could be farther away then it was when you set it the first time.

Did you buy the kit used or was it new? If it was new follow the instructions. Ive never installed those kits as im fond of the duraspark system. Where are you in riverside? Im in the eastside right next to lincoln high school..

the instructions show you how to check to see if the ignitor is good...i got one that was bad out of the box...come to find out someone bought the system and somehow blew it and then returned it...it took me a minute to trace it down...:hmmm:

this may sound dumb but take the pertronix out and put your points back in and make sure it will still start with the points. If it does then reinstall the pertronix. It sounds like you either got a bad pertronix or you have a wire going to the wrong place.

By the description in the post I quoted it sounds like something is hooked up in the wrong place and they are not getting voltage at the correct time.

But do yourself a favor and try putting the points back in and like I said if it works with the point then start from scratch and follow the directions carefully and reinstall the pertronix.

it sounds like your not geting the correct voltage to the pertronix during cranking. put a volt meter on the positive wire and see what it is when your cranking the motor.

the whole reason i bought the ignition is because the points were bad.. it seems like a waste of money to go buy new points.

make sure you are getting 9-12 volts to the red wire with the key on and the same while the engine is cranking. You might try puting a jumper between the positive battery cable and the ignition lug on the solenoid.
