The 250 and 302 used the same transmission. The 170-200 6 cyl trans is different

Make sure the flex plate on the 351 has the same tooth count as the one on the I6. The I6 flexplate will not work on the 351 because it is not balanced for it. The block spacer from the I6 should work though.

The flexplate for the Maverick/Comet C4 automatic has 157T, one for early 302 & 351 are same... The 250 plate may fit(dunno if bolt pattern is same) but as already mentioned isn't balanced for v8, will make a large paint shaker......

When I went with a t5 behind my 250/C4 I was looking at getting an aftermarket zero balance 302 flywheel before I found a 250 flywheel. It's the same bolt pattern. I did have to use the t5 block plate to match the bellhousing

I confused my poor car with a six cylinder C4 from a 80 Granada. It was 164T and had to buy a Granada 302 flex plate. I dont know if it will hate me for it.....it doesnt drive yet.

All inline 6 cyl are zero balance from the factory. The V8's, according on what year, are 28 or 50 ounce balanced from the factory.

i have the transmission that was in my 351w 4 door maverick, so i might use the one that was on the 351w when i bought it, but i was also kicking aroun d the idea of making it a manual one day
