I got 1968 Cougar tail lights. Wondering will I need a new flasher to work 3 lights on a side? I am putting Mustang bezels in the panel under the rear bumper for back up lights. Probably the flasher for a 68 Cougar. duh?

Look for the universal kit. Just use a heavy duty turn signal rely, plugs right in to the Mav's flasher connector. I got one at Advance for about $6, you can change the flash speed by changing the value of the internal capacitor. Most thermal flashers operate too fast to allow the lights to sequence properly. You can modify the thermal flasher by bending the contact post put it takes some trial and error and isn't always consistant in it's operation.

    Barry,
    will the ...new style...flashers work?
they are almost like a relay (clear) as you can see inside.

...i just saw where we may be talking about the same thing...

Yep, same thing. If you look inside you'll see a capacitor connected across the relay coil, it makess a timing circuit that determines the flash rate. By adding another capacitor in parallel with the first it will slow down the flash. It isn't affected by the load (lamps) like a thermal flasher.
