Hello I have a 70 Maverick and i want to run a AODE trans, I beleave it is the same size as the AOD trans, but for those that have installed A Aod Trans in your Maverick How much did you have to widen the tunnal. I have read of some Using a BFG(Big Fing Hammer) but i don't want a bummed up looking job unless it's not much widing that has to be done. Thanks Jim
I did the swap, but the 74 tunnel is larger than the 70, and its pretty tight once you go to put the tranny cooler lines on it. I can get you some rough measurements to see what the difference is, it'll probably be late this afternoon tho.
THe AODE uses a computer to its self and ther is a company that you can buy the computer and wiring harness from. What I like about the AODE is that it is stronger and you can lock in or lock out the stall when you want. I will have to run a 3000rpm stall and some low gears with my setup so lets say i want to hit the highway more and likly i will still be stalling out in overdrive and with the AODE i can flip a swith and lock up the 3000rpm stall even though its not at 3000rpms keeeping me from buning up my engine and trans. Thanks Jim
I know how it works...I have one in my '98 GT. If you're referring to Baumann Engineering and their "Baumannator" setup, you might also want to check with TCI. I talked to one of their reps at the NHRA race here in Baytown. They now have a stand-alone control box that is easier to wire and program than the Baumann unit. Retail on it is around $700. I used one in my son's car and it's a dream.
I was wanting the 4R70W trans but i had a friend give me a 95 Tbird AODE trans so I will be going with it. It has less than 50k on it and does not slip but does not want to shift like it should. he told me what part was bad but can't think of the name of it. THanks Jim
