Could I bolt a C4 transmission to a 200 CID? Would it bolt right together or is there a adapter needed? I am somewhat new to the ford side of engines. The reason I ask is I've got a 64 ranchero with a 71 Maverick 200 bolted to a fordomatic 2 speed(YUK). I'd like to change the trans to C4 to get a smother ride and maybe pick up a little more pwer with 3 spd rather than 2. If there is something better than a C4 I am totally open to any and all suggestions that anyone has. Thanks for your time. :hmmm:

Yes the bottom line is a C4 and a 200 i6 will bolt right together no adapter needed. You do need the correct bellhousing though. C4 WILL bolt up behind the 200, 250, 302, and 351. As long as you have the correct bellhousing.

On the 200 you will need the right bellhousing and the smaller converter and the 200 CID flexplate. But putting a C4 from a V8 behind the 200 will make it almost indestructable. Put a cooler on it anyway - there is no such thing as a transmission failure from lack of heat... at least I have never seen or heard of one.
