was wondering if anyone has any info on putting a 5.o fulel injected motor in my 70 maverick, as far as wiring the computer up. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated. Also if you know of a website that would be appreciated also. Thanks, justin
This is a great book and covers EFI conversions into earlier cars. http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/1557883238/ref=sib_dp_pt/103-1001974-0947037#reader-link Seth
It is a challange but not to hard. I have swapped some into early model mustangs and the such. No mavericks yet but I would imagine it is very similiar. I know Sam mangano has swapped fuel injection into one of his mavs.
Thanks for the tip. I'm putting a 93 set up in my 57 Ranchero and just ordered the book. I,ve been going to Helm's online for more than 6 months now to order the factory wiring diagrams but they are still out of stock.
This web site has alot of good information on this topic......his prices are good too. http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.htm
Yep, you gotta love fuel injection and 5.0 engines. They run hard and last forever. My Mustang GT has 150K on the clock and still runs awesome. One of the Great Maverick Swaps.
I've actually been recently contemplating this again, as I now have a parts mustang with all the efi stuff. I'm kinda curious to see how people ran their fuel lines, maybe I'll have to order that book.
I had almost all the parts for the swap in my mav and just ended up selling them to get yet another long awaited project.....a pinto station wagon. All you really need to do is find a wrecked 5.0 mustang and get the wiring harness and goodies.
re: fuel lines I ran braided hose (to and from) re:harness/wiring It really isn't too involved. The EEC needs only a ground and positive. All the sensors, MAF, O2's, IAC, TPS, etc., which are terminated in obvious locations on the engine plug) into the EEC. I have yet to hear mine run but the world wide interweb said it would work.
