I run a 3000 stall on the street and have the BM supercooler stacked fin design cooler. Tranny temps never get above 180* and are typically around 140*. I am currently running the fluid through both the cooler and the radiator. I really do not like all the lines up front. Anyone have an opinion on how much difference in temp I would see by just running the cooler only? The car is a weekend warrior and does not see any stop-n-go traffic. Thoughts? Thanks...

I assume you have a gauge on the tranny line. Good idea - I need to do the same.

It sounds to me like you're doing fine with it the way it is. I have mine separate from the radiator (as recommended by some of my peers).

You could always run JUST the supercooler and compare the temps to what you're running now. I'd be very surprised if it ran cooler than the 140 though.

Also, what type of fan and clutch are you running? That thing works like a charm, it sounds like.

I'd leave the cooler right where it is (IMHO).

I am running my gauge there. (I bought two by mistake, make you a good deal) I wanted worse case heat temps. I am not running a clutch fan. (is that what you asked?) Just a FlexFan. I am contemplating an electric one however. I am just trying to clean up all the lines up front. The car is going to paint in the am (doors, lids etc already done) So I am looking for projects to do while it is down. Thanks for the response.

I would not run it through the radiator. Your trying to cool the fluid with 180 degree water. The external air cooler is the way to go.

re: clutch fan. Yeah. I wasn't sure if you were or not (actually, I don't know why I thought you might be running one at all - just because I am I guess :hmmm: ).

From the WIW Department: Some bracket racers I know run the cooler lines through the radiator to help them be more consistant.

That's the ONLY reason I can think of that one might want to run it that way.

    I've had a few
I have mine the same as yours, through the radiator and then out through the cooler. The instructions that came from the cooler said to do it that way. I've never gotten around to putting a trans temp gauge on, but I can tell it runs much cooler.

NAFORD, I have my sensor on the line COMING FROM the tranny. I wanted worst case scenario on the temps. If it is coming out cool enough, I know it is going in cool enough. Sorry about "slipping in" a sale item in the tech section. Forgive me Ray!
