so ive been trying to figure out a vibration in my car for a year now and found out that the guy rebuilt the tranny wrong and messed it all up. so i got it rebuilt its not a maverick tranny its a 69 c4. so when i was putting in back in i had a hell of a time getting it into the cross member, it was to far right and had the push it over to get it into the holes. i have 302 frame mounts, maverick motor mounts, and a double hump from autokrafters has anyone else had this problem? could i just have a bad cross member? my stock 6cyl drive shaft is also short adn i had a new one made i dont know if that has anything to do with it.
I had the same problem. I loosened up the motor mounts and very little movement trying that. I ended up prying it into place. I hope it's all right for us...
Is this the same tranny that came out of that car, before being rebuilt? And did it have any problems before? I'd imagine if you have to force it over that something is not lined up right. Are you using the same torque convertor that was in the 69 tranny before being rebuilt?
the tranny is different i went from a 200 6 + c4. to a 351w c4, its a tci sizzler converter, i bought all the correct mounts also
Motor mounts are the same. Frame mounts are different. Driveshaft should be the same for a 6 or an 8.
i have to motor mounts on the right way i checked that so many times getting the motor in, the 6 drive shaft will fit but the guy who rebuilt the tranny said the drive shaft is to short and to much of the yoke is sticking out? he said the distance between the rear u-joint and the rear axle cup should be 7/8 of an inch.
I have read here on several threads that it is just a little short, but not sure or remember how much. The end result is that it seems it has always worked tho.
