where to mount it??? Besides the normal "in front of radiator" Does anyone have theirs mounted anywhere else (for street application)? If so, where and have you had any cooling issues? Thanks.
I was going to remove my ac evaporator and enlarge the holes that the AC lines went through to match the size of the transmission cooler. then run an lip around the edge and set some brackets in and you have a factory appearing location that performs better then it would if it were in front of the engine. Oh I decided to stay with the AC because my wife says I will have allot of really lonely drives if the car does not have AC. I am just avoiding the fight when I get home so she does not accuse me of going places and doing things I am not supposed to do.
the radiator trans cooler is the best trans cooler there is. if your adding a external cooler dont bypass the rads. internal cooler, just add it inline. i made brackets that bolted to the rad core supports to mount the cooler to. it sits as close to the rad as possible so the fans pull will work on it.
picture this....cooler w/fan... mounted at the rear where the...stock muffler...was...(no rad.hookup/ fan not wired)... the return temp it right at 115 degrees...I haven't had any problems so far... ran it at the track...non lockup/AOD w/trans. brake and slicks. i read where the return temp should be...170 ish... ...Frank...:Handshake
Hehehehehe, a married man can“t fight for justice (or save the world either)... been there my friend, good luck.
Here is where mine is. (old pre-paint pic) I LOVE Franks idea... I tend to disagree with the radiator cooler opinion. I wa running mine though both and temps were running at 160-200* and hit 200* after a long stall/burnout. After running it only through my external cooler I seldom see higher than 140-160*. Just my .02 (Temps are LEAVING the tranny. I wanted worse case scenario)
Here's mine. I have a 2500 stall on a C4 with Trans-Go kit, deep sump finned aluminum pan, and no radiator cooler. I have the temp gauge sender tapped into the pan, and the highest I've ever seen it get is about 150. I drive it in all weather, sometimes a couple hundred miles at a time.
at one time, i mounted mine between the radiator and condensor...out front looks ...too race carish... ......
Mine is in front of the rad, on the passenger side.....I spray bombed it black so that it blends in with the rad, not shine and stick out.....
