Too much play in steering

    I mentioned in the wanted section that I had some play in the sterring wheel caused by loosenes where the pittman arm attatches to the control valve. I posted a video of it in action. Heres a link to the thread. let me know what you guys think.

    I dont know but mine has about 4inches of play in it also.



    I wish someone would sell me a power steering setup.

    There is supposed to be play there. That is what activates the valve.

    4" of steering wheel motion is not normal in a properly functioning power assist steering system. One of my cars has about 1/2" steering wheel motion before the wheel starts to turn. The other is manual steering and has instant response. As in no Ford wander. (wonder why I went back to manual steering.) :cool:

    They have the rebuilt power steering control valve for $153 + a $50 core charge.

    Kind of hard to beat that. Especially when you consider that it is your life and that of every other person on the road that you are protecting.:evilsmile

    Shouldn't be any "play" when the system is running...
