I am considering painting the tired and dinged bumpers on my 76 big bumper 4 door.

Final paint job would be red and black "stallion" and the bumpers would be in black. Anyone have links to pictures of big bumpered Mavs with painted bumpers as this would be helpful

I wouldn't paint the bumpers. if I had the money I would get the dings removed and have them rechromed. or try to find some in better shape. JMO

Painted bumpers look best when painted the same color as the car.

I agree, body color bumpers if you're going to paint them. That way it looks more like today's cars with the integrated bumpers. Otherwise, they kind of look like an afterthought.

My 77' Maverick used to have the bumpers painted black and I thiought they looked hideous. The only reson we did that was because the original bumpers were still at the rechromers and we had a show to go to and the state inspection was about to run out. No bumpers-no sticker. I agree with the others. If you are going to paint the bumpers, paint them the same color as the car.

    Pictures were a real help...

Wow! thats why I love this forum. the pictures from blown 76 and Jean Doll really helped. I think I will go with body color painted bumpers but keep the body to a single color. I really liked the looks of blown 76.

Any thricks to painting over Chrome?
