first off, welcome to the board!

as for your questions, it's pretty broad as there are several areas to a restoration. another thing to consider, is this going to be a total restoration or will you drive it while youre fixing it up? obviously if youre going to be driving it, youre going to want to get any 'bugs' worked out of it. have it running good, and stopping better are two main goals with an old car. start with any trouble areas first to get them out of the way so that u can move from the bigger problems to the smaller problems. hope this helps :)

Come here and read and mingle for a while before tearing into it. You will find this place to be the best resource for info and help. The search botton is also verry helpful.

Only advice I would give, other than making yourself at home here, is to:
*decide where you want to go with the project, before you start.
*decide what your skills will allow you to do, before you start.
*decide what your wallet will allow you to do, before you start.
*make a list of what you want to accomplsih, before you start.

don't do what I did with my very first maverick. I decided to go all out and do a full restoration. I took apart the entire car which was great but because I didn't have the experience, knowledge, dedication, and time I got intimidated and ditched the project which was a shame. Try to start slowly, you can always go back and do a full on restoration.

Make it safe...make it reliable...Drive it!!! for a year or two before you tear it apart.
That way when the project becomes discouraging...The fact that you miss driving it will help you get it done.Seat time will also show you areas that need improvement. This will help you decide what you want to do to it.These are great cars, simple cars,but...Restorations are not easy on these cars.(not enough is reproduced for em)Its not a mustang/camaro with 20 yrs worth of aftermarket support.Fortunately you have found the center of the Maverick/Comet universe right here!!! That said...Dive in and enjoy!!!!
