Timing and Dwell...

    First off: Hello all. This is my first post.

    I have a 1974 Maverick, 250 Motor. And I can't find the right Timing and Dwell. Does anyone know what they are?

    I'm sure one of our many 250 c.i. guys (and others) can help you when they see your post, but in the meantime, you might wanna peruse over to www.FordSix.com. Looks like they have some good information (on your engine).

    49 states
    Dwell 33-39 point gap .027 timing 6 BTDC
    CA Breakerless so no dwell timing same as above all same manual or AT

    My advice? Get rid of the points and go with either the Pertronix or the Duraspark II ignition. :)

    Original 72 Sprint Owner, 71 Comet GT, 57 Ranchwagon, 57 4 dr Wagon
    Set dwell first, then timming. First chance you get, convert to electronic ignition as Jamie suggested. Both are good choices. The Pertronix is the easiest.
