What is it worth to you to get rid of it, is the question you must ask yourself, not me. It sounds like the car is a burden to you. How much do you really love the car?:hmmm:

I do like it a lot but without fully restoring it I'm not sure it's worth the money just to put in the motor to keep driving it think the $1200 range is pushing it if I decide to sell it as is?

From what I can see on the pix, it's worth 1200 if it is not all rusted out on the bottom. Have u had the engine tested in any manor to possibly see if u have a dead cylinder? There is more than one reason for engine vibes.
If ur serious abt selling u shud put it in the forum classifieds and/or other sites. If it's more power ur after, u cud swap in an 8. If u buy another old car u might wind up w/ similiar issues.

Underside of the car is solid except for a little hole starting to form under the passenger side floor and I mean little I have had the car on a lift a few times and it's very solid

Since this is your daily driver....is it also your ONLY driver? This would make it tough to restore/work on if it is the ONLY car you have.

If this is your ONLY car....then in all reality you need a more reliable daily driver. Good luck in whatever direction you choose.

A Maverick is not a good daily driver no matter what anyone thinks. A $2500 Ford Focus is a much safer and reliable car any day of the week. You could spend that much on a Maverick, and still be driving a 35+ year old car, with dried out seat belts, poor brakes, bad wipers..the list goes on and on. No one wants to really be under the hood of their car weekly, unless it's as a hobby. If you are having second thoughts, there is a reason.

Good point. For example: Alternator. I just went this week to get one. I got the ONLY one that Advance Auto Parts had. If they would not have had one, I would have waited for the next day for one to come in. I also wanted a voltage regulator. None in stock, could not get one at all at Advance Auto Parts. NAPA can probably get me one. Bottom line...my car is going to be down for days waiting for parts to come in. Not a good scenario for a daily driver.

I can attest to this. I drive mine as a daily driver. I just went 3 weeks in a row without having to order parts or make repairs. Which is a major distinction, because that's the longest stretch since I bought the car I haven't been working on it.

I was being lazy about replacing my alternator and moving the battery to the trunk and my freaking battery tray decided to finally give up the ghost and blow up my damn charging system. You have to constantly be ahead of what's going to break next. I wasn't and now I'm trying to get warranties honored because I got lazy. If it's not fixed for work on Monday I'd be boned if I didn't have my Bronco, which gets 9mpg.

You have to decide just how much of a Road Warrior you want to be. I enjoy getting out under the hood of my car. I don't honestly enjoy doing it because I have to though.

$2500 Foci, are a dime a dozen around here, safety & E tested from dealers. They don't need any work, other than bolting the license plates on them. :hmmm:
