my sprint is a factory 250 auto. the 250 needs work so it has tocome out . i have another 250 and all the parts to change it a 3 speed.
my question is should i keep it stock with the auto or go with the 3 speed? if it were a plane jane it would be a no brainer my other cars are all manual. whats your opinion?

I like a manual trans, Just hope you don't break an arm or leg though.

Keep the Sprint as factory as you can reasonably keep it. This is a one year only vehicle.

It is all personal preference. Me, I would keep it automatic.

Manual on the floor or three on the tree? I might be tempted to do the floor shift manual, but never a column shifted manual.

We had a 69.5 Maverick growing up in the family. It had a 170 and 3 on the tree. Hated driving that car. Much better when the shifter broke and we had to convert to a floor shift with the common lil Indy or Hurst aftermarket shifter.

Dont worry about originality, modding a Mav is a prerequisite.

I personally believe that you should make it how you want it. If the manual trans would make you happy, then do it! It's all about your enjoyment of the car. (y)

I would keep all the original parts to return it back to stock though. That way if at a later date you wish to completely restore it, you won't have to hunt them down. :slap: :banghead:
