    Hello All :tiphat:

Great forum here. I'm glad I found it. My names Curtis, 19 years old (that's right old timers). Almost year ago I bought my first car. 1974 Mercury Comet; inline 6, 50 thousand original miles, all original interior in flawless condition.

However it's not quite a shining example of a classic car... YET. The owner previous to me (1 of only 2) had some silly ideas concerning how he should modify the car and none of them materialized. So when I bought the car its paint had been sanded and primered over. And he had mounted a huge scoop on the hood (worse bondo job I’ve ever seen). Not to mention a couple dents in the body.

For the last year I’ve been attending school and have been unable to afford any significant alterations (other than a new hood and some winter tires). The car has suffered some minor deterioration since I bought it too. But I've finally saved enough money for a paint job. I've also managed to land a very solid job for the summer, and my ideas for immediate modifications are growing big.

By the end of September I plan to have the following accomplished:

    -Paint job
    -New wheels (some fat mags)
    -Replace dash/Custom dash mat
    -Custom seat covers (bench seats)
    -Tinted windows

I also intend to replace the 6 cylinder with a rebuilt 351 windsor (or so I’m thinking), which I would like to do myself. Although that may not occur until sometime next year.

In any case you can all expect me to be pestering you for ideas, tips and info with every modification. Oh, and I'll be sure to update you all with before and after pictures.

:Welcome: Young blood is what keeps the hobby alive. My son is 18 and he's finally come over from the dark [Chevy} side, he's building my Comet into a drag car while I build the hot rod Maverick. Ask any questions you want, somebody here has done it, seen it done, or planned to do it! And of course.......:ttiwwp: We love pics!!!
