ok so what do you guys think? http://s1248.photobucket.com/albums...action=view¤t=IMG_07181_zpsc578cd8c.png is the carbon build up o top of the heads? and i was going to run some gum out in it what do you guys think thank you for any info and help
Considering all the filth in that engine. Personally, I would just tear it down and see what else is ugly in there, bearings/journals cyl bores etc...Your going to have to at least pull the pan off...Betcha its full of that grunge too. Looks like it was allways run far too long between oil changes and poor quality oil was used. (Even good oil will do that if not maintained properly) Running without a T stat for years will do that too. You definitely have a project in front of you though, good luck!!!
That's a truck engine with non roller cam... At the least pull it down to the short block and douche it out good with spray cans of brake cleaner, or something similar... Coat the cylinders, deck etc with oil when you finish... If there is more than a .0025 ridge in the top of the cylinders I'd recommend a rebuild...
Man I don't think so one day maybe lol I still have that 302 but I need to find out what parts it needs You know I think I'm doing good on this maverick it turns out to be tow steps back so idk what to do lol sorry had to say that
Join the club.....well I guess you did! seems with the Grabber I have now it's always one step forward and two steps back, I wanted it done by November but I don't know now if I can make it.....anyhow good luck with the engine, things will eventually work out but with Mavericks it takes time and money, money I have, time I don't.
