After weeks of acquiring needed parts, I got that Grabber I bought for $100 running. I lucked out and found a super clean gas tank from an individual who replaced his with a fuel cell. All of the fuel lines where cleaned out and rubber, filters, carb replaced. Sitting for 8 years in the back yard turns gas to shellac and clogs up everything. It took some adjustments but the engine fired up and runs fairly smooth. Next was the tranny test. The little beast shifted right into all gears and worked well. I took it for a short excursion around the block and it shifted smooth as silk. The strange thing about this is that I have no leaks in the tranny seals, pinion seal and no oil burnoff due to old cracked oil seals in the head. I will still need to do much more to this car. The brakes are weak, most likely due to air in the lines. The rear chamber on the master cylinder was almost dry. That project begins later this week. I am going to have the cooling system and tranny flushed also. So all in all I think I will go ahead and start restoring this car and use it as a daily driver. It will still need a lot more.
I'd like to see pics of both of you Phoenix guys mavs. Maybe I have seen you around. Pics of mine are on my website link below. Mavtricks, do you have the red grabber with black stripes that used to work at service merchandise?
ryan im the guy with the fuel injected maverick, the one you took the spoiler off of, i saw you in autozone working 1 night
That was the blue spoiler wasn't it? I don't understand why a car that was being parted out is now still being driven and is fuel injected. Talk about changing your mind Yeah I used to be at that Autozone at 43rd and bell. Now I am the Store manager at Checker at Tatum and Bell.
