i want to run tail pipes on my 77 maverick what are you guys using and iam a little worreid about the drivers side looks like it will be tight to the gas tank the car has 351w holly systemmax 202 heads 292d 534 lift cam with long tube headers
Run them around the springs like they do in Camaros, between the tank and spring there is no room on the drivers side when using a large 75-77 fuel tank.
In 75 they started using a larger fuel tank that is heavily offset to the drivers side, on your 73's it's a different story.
I agree with that. I don't like seeing exhaust pipes coming out the rear anymore unless it's a car that has factory cutouts.
No offense to others.. but IMHO.. bending 2.25 inch piping around the rear axle on a larger cammed motor like that would be a wasteful endeavor. Of course you should use mandrel bent tubing to maximize flow/reduce back pressure around bends.. but even mandrel bent 2.25 inch piping will become more of a burden for the motor to push around all those bends when it comes up on the cam. Maybe it(2.25) would be well enough for a smaller 302.. but even then.. if it had some compression/larger cam and I wanted to bend the bejeezus out of it to push it all the way to the rear?.. I'd still lean towards 2.5 inch piping. Then again.. I'm all about those last few high rpm horsies that some don't mind leaving on the table. That motor will be down an easy 12 horse with only a few lbs of torque increase up to about 2,000 rpm on a motor combo like that. Possibly even more lost if you're running 10.5 compression or higher.
