This could be a stupid question, but has anyone had any success straightening out a damaged bumper? My rear bumper is twisted slightly and considering how difficult it is to find the small bumpers in decent condition, I'd like to have it straightened out if possible. Or do they lose structural integrity once they've been bent?
bumpers Some bumper rechroming places offer repair services to get rid of dents and bends in the bumpers. They have all the proper hydrolic systems to unbend and undent your bumpers plus the most important thing-- the knowledge to do it right. Tony
Yeah, like he said. The front bumper of my '70 was bent into a 90 degree angle after being hit by some old guy who was in a hurry to pull into a Hardee's. I took it to Keystone Automotive, a nationwide collision parts house. They sent it to some place in New Jersey who used to supply the bumpers to Ford. They still had the original dies. They straightened it and did a nice rechrome for about $260.
Thanks for the info, guys. I know a couple of the body guys in the area here so I'll have to see if they can hook me up with this kind of service.
