I need to fix the wiring on my stero and I would like to know where someone else connected their stero wires. This is a JVC unit and has a battery lead that is yellow and used to supply constant power to maintain the internal memory and clock. The other wire is the power lead that is red and supplies power when the car is running, or ignition in acc position. For some reason it seems I had my batt. lead wrong and it was draining my battery. I'm trying to get this done today so I can get on the road asap, so if anybody is on here and can help me out quick it would be much appreciated.

The wire you want that will have 12v on it when the key is on ACC or RUN is yellow with a black hash stripe on it. For continuous 12v power for the radio's memory I usually use the cigarette lighter power feed, which is a light blue wire with a white stripe.
I can't think of any way the battery lead from your JVC could be connected that would drain your battery(it is supposed to be connected to continuous 12v)...but I suppose if you connected the other wire to constant 12v, the radio would never shut off and would eventually kill your battery...but you would realize this the first time you shut the car off and the radio kept going....:)
Of course, it depends on how long you are talking about...with all the electronic equipment in my car, my battery won't make it past about 3 weeks before it is drained down to where the car won't start. Even a car stereo will eventually drain the battery...but as long as the battery is good I would think it would go a month or beyond before it became a problem...
Anyway, probably more answer than you were looking for...hope the wire colors help you out...

Thanks. I was thinking it would probably be best to wire the batt lead to the ciggarette lighter, because I have a lighter delete plate, and (fingers crossed), if I pull that out it should have the wire behind it. I also think it might be something else causing battery problems, but I have a brand new battery in now, so if it drains I'll know its not the stereo. thanks for the help
