will a 73-75 mustang steering column assembly work in my 73 maverick? i took my column asembly apart and noticed the threads at the top portion of the steering shaft were messed up and I may be getting a mustang that's rear was wrecked and I was going to get the 302 out of. just wondered if the column may be useful to me as well.

Well, it might be adapted to fit, but it will not bolt in and go. You would have to extensively modify it to make it fit the Maverick. I would just post in the want ads for a steering column. I am sure people could hook you up with one for a good price.

Craig; do you have a turn signal switch for a '70, with a non-locking column? If so, how much? Let me know.

Nope. Again, if you want it bad enough you can make it fit, but it's not bolt in.

Wow, I figured that one would be real close.
I am going to try to fit one anyway. That's how bad I want to be the only Maverick on the block with tilt... ;)

I don't know if you want to go this route or not...
I took the collar off of one of mine and ground the part smooth and filled the shifter hole with epoxy, then sanded and painted. You would be the only one to know the difference.
You will need to fix the collar so it never moves, if it does the key will not come out unless you twist it back. Don't ask how I figured this out. ;)
I had to go back in and fasten the collar...

Dave; I was the guy wanting the turn signal switch. Terry (Hawkco) was asking about the column. However, very good tip. I filled my column in 4 yrs ago, and other than the slot on top for the selector, you cannot tell the diff. Good tip about the key. My car is a 69.5, so the key is not a factor. But....on later cars it surely is. BTW, hope all is well in Pensacola, and everyone is getting back to normal after the storms. Take care,

One thing I might point out on this thread. 73 mustangs were the last of the original style mustangs. In 1974 the stangs went to Mustang II's..so we have a completely different car. While I agree with the above, anything will work if you want it to, sometimes it is not worth the effort in the end result. Ebay has been a godsend and a pain in the A$$ at times, but it sure makes parts hunting a lot quicker and easier than the old days.
    Dan
ps, before someone nails me on the body styles of stangs, I only meant that the 73's being the last of a bodystyle as a means of communication for major changes in the 74.

I'll say it. With the amount of critisim we take we afford to dish some out. 73 was also the last of the good looking Mustangs. Unless you like the jellybean look.

As always, the opinions expressed in this answer do not reflect the opinions of everyone, but then, everyone else who dont agree is wrong. :D :D :bananaman :bananaman
