Alright guys. Starting on my budget 302 build and I need some advice. My friend gave me his like new 92 cobra block and internals for free since he dropped in a Boss 347. I have found most of the parts I want from people in my city (via craigslist), but before I commit, I'm going to run it by you guys since this is my first engine build. I'm considering going cobra block, gt40 heads, edel victor jr intake, edel 650cfm carb, and I really need help with the Cam. Should i keep it around a .500 lift and a med duration since the Mav is so light? Then probably Summit exhaust and headers. This entire project will cost about $1000 which I think is pretty decent (of the parts I listed). Any help, input, and criticism is welcomed. Thank You!
the cobras came with GT40 heads so your good there as far as intake and cam goes we need to know what you plan to use your car for, we also need rear end and transmission info:Handshake
It's just the shortblock. He sold everything else off the cobra. rebuilt C4, I don't know if I want/ or am ready for working with the gear ratios so those will probably be stock, and original rear end of my 70 grabber. I want to get the most performance out of my buck without spending a fortune.
Your 70 Maverick has a small rear end in it. You won't last too long without upgrading to at least an 8".
What rear ends will fit? I don't know much about them, but there are some people selling 60's mustang 8" rear ends, and 8-9" 90s mustang rear ends. Do I just have to worry about length? Or are there fitment issues? Thanks
