Has anyone out there bought or has a higher compression ratio 302 looking for about 9 and half to 1 or 10 to 1 what kind of starter did you use? The motor is comming with a 157 tooth backed up by a performance automatic C4 transmission

I used a stock starter for a while when the CVR was out being fixed. 13.9:1 compression 302 and it worked just fine except for header clearance.

I use CVR starters most of the time. Also have used the Ford smaller gear reduction unit that came on F150's in the 90's as well as Mustangs & other Ford V8's. Both work well. The only down side to using a gear reduction starter is that if you fill a cylinder with fuel, coolant, water, etc...they will bend a rod in a heartbeat due to the extra starter torque.
