    Hello Everyone,

I need to replace the starter relay\solenoid again. Used a Napa Echlin and it only lasted 18 months.
Any suggestions on a good high quality relay\solenoid that will last.

    Thanks!

chances are your starting system is pulling too much amperage, causing the solenoid to burn it contacts. it could be too much resistance in any of the battery or starter cables or it could be the starter motor it self.

I just put on a new starter thinking that was the original problem. All cables are 1 gauge and never had problem before changing to new solenoid. Should have kept the original but trashed it.

Make sure they gave you the correct part, there are a bunch of relays/solenoids that all look the same. Some are relays, some are solenoids and there are even some glow plug timers that look similar. If they sold you a relay it would not last very long at all, those are designed as continuous duty at lower amperage draws.
