The upper part is the same on the mirrors as far as I know, but the lower part is different for each car. I have a Mustang II sport mirror and everything is the same except the base. You could probably get them to work if you don't mind different screw hole locations in the doors and a not perfect angle. Also, the remote mirrors are apparently very very difficult to replace because you have to remove the remote wires, which are pretty much permanently attached to the mirror. Experts help me out here.

I dont beleave you have to remove the cables to remove the mirror from the veh. the hole in the door is large enough to pull the knob base out .

I'm not sure about the base difference on a 73 Mustang but I tried one from a 70 Mustang before. The base was quite different and did not work well at all. The biggest problem was like Erick stated, the angle of the head was off. The height of the base was probably 1/2" in difference too.

The mustang II mirrors work great a few of us have them. The nice part is the passenger mirror usually has a remote cable also, all of the other cars just have the manual passenger mirror

Yeah, the Stang 2 is your best bet.
They aren't like the stock mirrors, but they do fit and sit level.

The bottom half of the mirrors are different car to car, the tops are pretty much the same.
