    Hello Everyone,
I got excited this week with a new set of wheels I just got and thought I would give ya'll an update of where I stand my project. Check them out:

I'm still waiting for delivery. I was hoping one of guys that's up on Mav wheels would tell me if the bolt pattern and back spacing was correct. 4 1/2" bolt pattern with 3 5/8" offset. I've looked for a set of these for a long time.

    This is the car.

Sorry don't have an updated picture. I'm in the process of getting it going. Since our last visit, I've installed an Aussie 250 six. Still have an issue with the fuel pump. Has anyone run a return fuel line? I've never looked at one specifically. What? Should I just weld a 3/8 line fitting somewhere on the tank then pipe the new line?

    Interior:
I bought a floor shifter. I need the shifter linkage if anyone has it. I'm loving Mustang and Torino consoles as well as consoles from other manufacturers. Has anyone ever hooked up a shifter cable to a C4? Check these out:

On the floor, Is the hole perferrated or marked? I haven't pulled up the carpet yet. How do you know where to cut?

I also bid on and won a dash pad. Didn't even realize I won it till this morning when I was checking My Ebay this morning. I have a couple questions on this too. It says it's an original. I can't tell if it is or maybe a cap. Here's the link:

I figured it was as cheap as a cap, which I was considering. Any consumer reports on the glue on caps? I've never seen one installed. If it is original it looks good. May be hard to install though. Any secrets there?

One final thought on the insides. Has anyone tried or know if Grande or high back seat covers for a '70's'ish mustang work on Mav seats. I still have not found OEM style seat covers for our cars. I was hoping the seat covers from this style mustang would work. At least for the front. $250 a pop per seat adds up pretty quick.

On the outside, I've purchased a spoiler for the back. I'm thinking I'm liking the front spoilers as well. The plan is to do the spoilers and paint it up Grabber yellow with the original style black GT striping. I'm also considering a Mustang GT flip open gass cap. Has anyone done this? How do they mount? I've also considered striping it up like a GT 350 or 500, only making it a GT 250(because of the Aussie 250 in it). So what do you think. Am I on the right track?

Hi, very nice car you got there. If you want to see the Mustang gas cap on a Maverick, click the link below my signature and you can see my restoration pics. You'll see that I've used several of your ideas already. Good luck with the car and keep us posted.

Wow .. great price on the dash pad ... I guess I need to start doing eBay searches on Mercury Comet ... I normally only do Maverick.

I guessing that since you bought 4-lug wheels your car is a six cylinder ...

    Hello DMHines,
Yea, I have a six. Imported from down under, the Ford Aussie 250 has an aluminum head and comes from the factory with a Weber two barrell carb. The head is designed after a cleavland with the larger canted valves. Some of the valve train parts are actually interchangeable. I haven't fired the engine yet as I am working out the fitment issues. It's in the car though and it fills up the engine bay. It looks huge compared to a US 250. Next time I'm home I'll try and get a few updated pictures. The thing with the Aussie 250 is that the head flows a lot better than the US counter part. While the US 250's have gobs of torque and lasts forever, they don't respond well to engine mods because the log intake design just won't pump the volume of air needed unless, you wack a couple more holes in the log and add a couple more carbs. In stock form the Aussie engine is rated at about 40 more horse power. That doesn't sound like much but when you only have 75 or 100 horse power to begin with, thats a pretty big increase. After it all goes together and I get everything working right, I plan on taking it back apart and and rebuilding the engine and C4. There's a lot of info out there on them. Their sometimes referred to as Crossflow 4.1's.

The plan is to retain the four lug suspension. There making some nice front end kits that replace all your ball joints, rubber bushings and other misc parts. I was going to replace some of the rubber bushing with poly urathane, add the V8 engine frame brace along with sway bars and sub frame connectors. I think it will work pretty good. The car drives very good and is tight even with the old original front end. It should respond nicely with a fresh over haul of all the front end parts.
