Feel around it, you will feel a raised portion of it on top or bottom or somewhere. Push on that and kind of wiggle and pull it, it will pop right off. to the forum!
On these old cars, if it hasn't been taken off in a while, it may not exactly POP...But it is supposed to. Mine took some serious yanking and jiggling to get it off the first time. Cut the crap out of my arms and knuckles in the process. But it POPs off now that it has been on and off a couple times. But, Jamie is right, that raised portion is a like a plastic clip that hooks it onto the speedo. Pinch it and yank it, and it should come off. That clip may be at the hardest place to reach, so feel around for it... May help to pull the instrument panel loose and lean it forward a bit before going in from under the dash. It will give you a little more room to work in.
Alot of times that plastic clip is real brittle and will break off pretty easily. None of my cars has that clip any more and I've never had a cable work its way out. So if it breaks, dont worry about it.
In that case, I might break mine off on purpose next time. Just for ease of removal from then on. I have noticed that the way it sits in there, the cable is sort of forced into the back of the speedo by the angle of approach of the cable, so it shouldn't work its way out.
thanks to all, i was concerned about braking plastic clip , that does not seem to be a concern , i have bleed plenty trying to figure out the vacume witch someone took apart and left in trunk.
