When we were building our car and it came getting a stall I found out about a local shop that rebuild's torque converters on a wholesale level however they don't mind working your current converter occasionally, what they did for me was get us 2400 stall, replaced aluminum impellar with a steel unit because I mentioned running nitrous some day maybe, lol. anyway did a great job and cost was $175, if anyone wants to have their current converter upgraded they can take a stock to 2400 (that was on our 10") add the steel impellar (which I would think you would want over aluminum ever without nitrous, contact me and I'll get you in contact with them.
