No, it has nothing to do with noses. I will be here all week. But really folks, I went to the local 'Do it yourself' auto dismantlers. I have no idea where my AOD...or even my C4 tranny lines walked off to. I went looking for the lines and found what I was looking for in a Lincoln LSC. $5.99 each. Not bad. They threw in the inspection cover and related bolts. I also picked up an original air cleaner for a '77 Z28 for $10 (I know exactly who wants this thing ) Or how about an untouched T-Bird Super Coupe (the wheels and the window switches were the only things I saw missing. I got happy for a second thinking the rear end might be in there but it was gone.
That Z28 would go for good money up here. I bet I could get a couple of grand as it sits. The 70's and early 80's Camaros and Firebirds have taken a huge jump in price up here in the past few years. Sad to see a good shell like that waiting to be crushed.
Ya, the Z was sad to see. It was pretty solid. A couple of dents and dings but no real damage. Somebody got all the gauges and the motor was gone. It's still actually fixable/usable. If a north eastern pos Camaro was all rusted but otherwise there.....you could make a damn good true Z out of them. Again....sad.
Yea, I know. I was just remembering how someone once needed one and the stores were closed and it was night time. For say $1 I would throw it in the trunk just to have for such an emergency. Just thinking outloud.
We get quite a few of the super coupes at the Pull-A-Part's around here, lots of Taurus SHO's as well. There's a black super coupe with a 5 speed in it at the one by my house right now. I grabbed the 30lb fuel injectors off it. Mustang II's are extremely common in yards around here. Came across one a while back that had a 3.42 limited slip 8 inch, still kicking myself for not grabbing that center chunk, but it was still freezing cold out at the time and I didn't feel like laying on the ground to pull it.
