So a buddy and I went down to look at the engine. It fired right up.

No ticks or knock. Did have a vac leak. He let it run for 10 mins straight.

So I gave him the 200$ and we pulled it. He needed the starter :( but oh well. I think it was a good deal.
So when we got it out he showed me that the engine builder put a tag on the block. I have some pics but I cant put them up. How can I delete pics to make room?

This is what the tag says...

    bore 040 rods 020 mins 020

Idk if it's supposed to be mains. It's messed up but that's it.
So i think this will be a weekend car. What do you guys think?

Sounds like to took every precaution, you could before you slapped down your hard earned bucks. I've bought decent engines without hearing them run but took a chance every time. You were fortunate to have the chance to have it run for you first. That tag should read "mains". :)

Two Benjamins for what's apparently a good running engine, is nothing short of a screamin' deal...

If you don't have any idea of mileage since the rebuild, I'd recommend knocking the oil pan off it to be sure there is nothing lurking down there...

Starters aren't a big deal.. You can probably get one free somewhere..or from a buddy. I got like 4 just sitting around since I went with a high torque starter & didn't have the heart to throw these ones out.

Looks Like you got a great deal though.. I'd probably too tempted to tear it apart so see whats there.
