Ok wellll.....I have finally successfully made the swap to a 302, buttt because of the headers I ended up going with my automatic tranny and the column shifter wont work. This is something I've never really dealt with, what kind of floor shifter should I use? Also, i found a guy willing to sell me a shifter but it needs a cable and I have no idea which one to get, so any leads would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

If you can find someone that is selling a stock floor shifter that will work.
I have a lokar on my AOD and it heavily resembles a manual shifter, but there are plenty of people that are using B&M's or any of the other aftermarket shifters.

    Cheap Solution

See my post on pg 3 of this thread for a cheap solution others have used. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=36034&page=3 Think the aftermarket shift arm for the transmission was about $6. Works OK and you don't have to mess with backup light sw, neutral start sw, steering wheel lock, or a useless shift lever on the steering column.

In js's link it talks about tack welding the shift linkage strait to the shifter. Does anyone have any more info on this sort of set up? The post said others have done it.. Thinking this might be a good temporary fix til I can get a floor shifter I want. Thanks!
