    I think its charging ok what should i show at the alt, the batt never go's dead

    Mine were real slow when I first got the car, so slow in fact I thought I had a battery going bad, I changed out the flasher under the dash and that fixed the problem.

    Like Moneymaker1 said, I vote flasher. Replace the old mechanical flasher with a modern electronic unit - that should do it. Get a standard unit, don't buy the heavy duty one. That is for running the extra lights used with trailer towing.

    Check your idle speed. If it is too slow you can get this condition.:)

    The HD flashers work better all around than the std ones. With the std ones, these will not flash when you have a light burned out.

    I agree when dealing with the old style thermal units.

    I suggested buying the modern electronic one and he will have no problems with the flasher. They run consistent with 1 to 6 lights in the circuit. Costs about $7.00

    Thanks to all just put a new flasher in. And didn't even start the car the thing has Hot Rod flashers now. LOL

    Aye, wnet electronic flasher for mine as well.... had the geriatric turn signals myself, so slow that someone said i had a brake light out :p

    Happens with age on those old mechanical ones, at least you have good quick blinkers now! I just swapped mine with the hazards for a while, as it was faster, then finally got off my ass and bought the 8.00 flasher
