Hello to everybody!! Well it's been FOREVER but our mav is up and running...but it is having a slight problem shifting, we have a 74-302-automatic,and when you first startout it seems like it revs up too high before it kicks to the next gear.Is there a vacuum line that we might not have hooked up??

    Thank's Mike

there is a vacuum line running from intake vacuum to modulator valve at passenger rear of trans. lack of vacuum to it will usually cause high, often hard shifts. usually a metal line with a few inches of rubber at both ends. rubber might also have cracked and broken.

i was having similar problems...turned out to be a sticky kickdown lever...not returning all the way. making up shifts sloppy and downshifts really sloppy not to mention annoying.
