I now have the shoulder belts for my daughter's car. I'm looking at the frame, trying to figure out how they are attached. Does anyone have a picture, or a good explanation of how they should go?

My 73 had no where to put shoulder belts. When I grafted a different roof on, there is a threaded hole for the belt bolt right where you are looking.

sometimes I feel very stupid! :slap: I realized when looking at the pic that the "swivel thingy" that was there, was the place I was needing. I pryed the thing open, now have to remove the end that is there, and replace it with the one I have that has the belt attached. Apparently, the previous owner just cut the belt off, instead of removing it. I guess they did it the same time they cut all the other stuff off !

    Retta,

The shoulder belts that I sent you are for a '72. Like Bob mentioned, there is a threaded hole in the outboard portion of the roof that it anchors into. The bolt holding it in place is the same as what is used for the lap belts,... anodized, big head, with a large Torx drive. For storing the shoulder belt when not in use, there is an extra coat hook in the forward part of the roof. You use that to hang the elastic strap on that.

If there was a design change between '72 and '73, it would be news to me, but I learn new things here all the time, and I have had my cars for most of my adult life ...

    Retta,

You and I were typing at the same time ...

Is that a retractable shoulder belt hanging there in the picture?

    Shoulder belt

I did my 74 Maverick with a new shoulder belt this summer does anyone know how to reattach the old wiring on the bottom of the old seat belt to turn off the red light seat belt reminder? Although I haven’t studied this problem in depth.

My shoulder belts disappeared leaving nothing but an allen head bold in their stead.

I want to put shoulder belts in my car. I have grown accustomed to wearing them this past 30 years

Got the shoulder belts in just fine. Thanks everyone. Well, we were taking the car to be inspected tomorrow, but for some reason I now have no reverse lights :hmmm: It got dark before I found the problem. I know the bulbs and fuses are good, as they are all new. I was sure they were working, so I'll be back out there in the am. My daughter is planning to drive it to work tomorrow night, so I better find the problem! She's not impressed with the steering and brakes. She's driving my F250 now, so now power steering/brakes are different. Now she said she wants a split exhaust with cherrybombs. (gotta have a talk with her older brothers about putting ideas into her head)
