With the popularity of The new Mustang, the Charger, and the possible return of the Camaro and Challenger.....seems everything old is coming up new.

Despite the Mustang's popularity, Ford's in trouble. Maybe they should bring back a few old favorites.

Ok, maybe the Maverick doesn't qualify as a "favorite", but hey, why not?

And, as I understand, the "Maverick" name is now used for a foreign Ford SUV or something......

So, how about a 2009 Grabber?

My son enjoys doing concepts....so, when I gave him one of my Maverick projects, he just had to do a "new"one.

How would you envision a new Mav? All new? A little "retro"?....alot retro?

Tell him what you think....suggestions, and yes, even critisizm.....he's an artist, he can take it! ;)

Gotta go with the Grabber grill look.

nice drawing, very good artist but the car looks like everything out there now and that's the problem...everything looks like a tube with to many rounded corners and smooth lines. bring back tail fins, long hoods and styling. give us something exciting!!!!!!

Yes, but it HAS to be rwd, maybe even on the mustang chassis with the 4.2 v6 and optional 4.6 V8. I'd also like to see a new rendition of a 66-67 Fairlane 500. To me, that is the best looking mid size car Ford ever built, besides the Maverick!

    (y) Nice rendition !! Tell him to add Grabber hood scoops to give it somewhat of a retro look.

More radical design, along the lines of the new Mustang? Very distinctive.

    Good call.

I think that's what went wrong with the new GTO, legendary one-of-a-kind car, they had the right drivetrain to honor the Goat's musclecar rep, but totally blew it sticking it in an "Oldsmobuick" ho-hum Alero body that looked like everything else on the road.

He's working on an upgrade there

Definately RWD V-6, and V-8's. Mustang chassis is a good call too. Maybe make the back slope all the way to the tail with a Grabber style spoiler, give the "fastback" the Maverick slope, to give it the same differences the old ones had from the 'Stangs.

I was kind of leaning on him to make the Grabber hood more "obvious", but he likes the "hint" of retro more than a modernized Xerox, but I still think a more "overt" Grabber hood would set it apart.

They're there.......set wider apart. Gotta look close (I had to reduce the pic a bit to get it to attach)

Like I said, he wanted the Grabber hood to be "subtle"

He's digging the input BTW....keep it coming.

I guess since he now "owns" a Maverick, he should register!

I vote that they shouldn't do it unless they do it right. But I gotta feeling they would just put out another Escort/Focus type car and stick the Maverick name on it.

The GTO was based on the Australian Holden, which is their name for Chevy. You're right, the only thing that looks "Pontiac" on it is the split grill....

I see the Grabber scoops now. Maybe, add a Grabber stripe package to the pic to make it more pronounced. I think if the "Big 3" want to increase sales they should go a little more retro with a couple models. At least make them look somewhat like the old ones. For example the new Mustang and (the one I'm wating for) the new Challenger. Not like the Charger - who in the hell designed a 4-door Charger ???? And last but not least make them affordable for regular working stiffs like me, not just doctors and lawyers in mid-life crisis. Well, I guess I've vented enough just my :2cents: .

I think it would be great if Ford brought back the Maverick if it looks really good, and if it represents the original styling in some way like the new Mustang does...

Great drawing but it dosent resemble the Maverick in my opinion. You can look at an 05 Mustang and see the old Mustang in it. I just dont see a Maverick in that.
