I have a 1975 ford maverick that i just did an engine swap in to a 1985 302 HO mustang engine. IT RUNS cool. when i get on the gas it shakes or has alot of vibration. i put it up on stands removed driveshaft u joints are good, so i removed the driveshaft still shaking so i removed damper and the engine continued to vibrate. oh yeah ****** only shakes when in gear and on the gas***** what should i do next? where should i start???

Did you change the tranny or do you have the original c-4 in it? if you have the original c-4 in it did you change the flexplate to a 50 oz. I believe the 85 uses a 50 oz. imbalance and the old 75 one was a 28 oz. imbalance.:)

OK, First off did you get a 50oz 157 tooth flexplate or flywheel? Are you using the stock damper for the engine? If the answer to any of the 2 questions is no then you have found your answer. The 85 engine requires a 50oz flywheel and damper. The one for your car is a 28oz stock.

yup ... 85 engine is 50oz imbalance crank ... so your balancer and flexplate need to be 50oz imbalance as well ...

Are you using the proper flexplate (flywheel) for that engine? I believe you should have a 50 oz imbalance flexplate for that year engine with the matching damper. If you are running a 75 flexplate (28 oz imbalance), that is likely your problem.

the flexplate is off of a 1975 ford 250 and the damper was already on the motor

I Purchased A Flywheel For A 1985 Mustang, It Is Bigger Than The One That Os On My Maverick. It Is 164tooth Instead Of 157 Like The Old One Will It Still Work?

Return it ... you need a 157 tooth with 50oz imbalance. Probably won't find it locally since a factory car never came like that ... but they are all over eBay ...

No it will not, You have to get a 157 tooth for a 50oz ballance. BMM-50239 from summit racing. This is the one you need you may be able to find one cheeper but this will give you the right part.
