I was cleaning my tank and wanted to fix the gas gage. I think I need a new sending unit .
I'm pretty sure I have the small gas tank California spec since it has bunch of plastic tubing inside. Is there a specific sending unit that fits? I don't care about the originality- just needs something that fits and works:)

Melvins Ford parts lists one listed - and AutoKrafters has had them in the past.

1970 was a 1 year only sending unit. You can make other years and even the early Mustang one work by repositioning the pickup tube. If getting anything but a real 1970 unit, make sure it has the correct ohms resistance - which for a Maverick is around 10-85 or so.

Looks like that one should be the right ohms range.
I have a 1968 Mustang tank with sending unit in my '72 and it works the Maverick gauge accurately.

OK So it arrived, looks pretty much identical to the original, length and bend included. The ohm range is 10-100 so it should work. BTW is the 10 on full or empty tank? Of course they did not send the gasket with it so I have to get one elsewhere and will report when installed.
    Thanks!!

Ohms go up as the tank goes down. As resistance increases it causes the gauge to read lower.
