From time-to-time, I've read that other members have installed Custom Autosound after-marked radios that fit in Ford Maverick/Comets, etc. My 1970 Maverick came with a Concours Series USA-230 AM/FM radio with auxiliary input for a CD player, MP3, etc. The previous owner lost the manual. When rebuilding the car, I had disconnected the battery. As a result, all the stations & set-ups were lost. After getting the car back together, I was experimenting with how to set up time, balance & tone controls, and station memories. I discovered that a certain button sequence turned the radio into a mode that really sounded great - and, I noticed that where the "stereo" indicator was, now displayed "Loudness". I went on-line to the company web-site to find the manual. The manual didn't mention anything about the feature, so I contacted their technical dept. They told me that the radio wasn't supposed to do that - only some of the "upper end" radios. If you have one, try holding in the BAND button, and press once the TUNING KNOB. It isn't unusual for manufactures to produce one PC board for all versions of their product. Sometimes, it's a matter of finding the secret handshake to get all the possible hidden features.
Pretty cool! I had Custom Autosound systems in my old '66 Cyclone GT convertible and '64 Galaxie 500 convertible.
