I was reading the earlier thread about making reservations in Owensboro, so as I was sitting here doing little recuperating from some sort of bug, I decided to call. Good thing I did!! Now, I don't want to overly concern anyone, but I felt obligated to pass this along. If what I was told was wrong, then it needs to be dealt with now rather than later. I took it upon myself to ask the reservationist (is that what they are called?) about how things looked for openings for those that have not booked their rooms yet after I booked ours. I was curious and after I identified myself, she was very willing to check. I was surprised that after she checked the computer, she was a bit ominous and strongly suggested that anyone coming needed to book now. She stated that the hotel was getting pretty booked as a whole. I didn't ask if there was any other events coinciding with ours that might be creating this or exactly how booked they really are at this time. John Ford, 'ol buddy...it might be a good idea to look into this to make sure whether she was being accurate in her assessment of accomodations or not. She didn't sound too optimistic if anyone has to wait much longer to book their rooms. I hope she was mistaken.
Wes I got the same story the other night when I called, I expressed my concerns to John and he has it under control, apparently the folks taking reservations are not aware of the blocks of rooms that have been set aside by the booking agent. This keeps the reservationist from seeing all the rooms set aside for us and booking someone else in our block of rooms. As we call in and make the reservation it then shows the room available. Hope this makes sense.
Good. I understand what you mean and I'm real glad that it's being straightened out. I was just concerned that not only might John be put into a situation he didn't deserve to be in thanks to the hotel and attendees may not have enough rooms. I've seen problems like this be created by hotels before where one hand doesn't know what the other's doing with events and blocked rooms.
All I can say is I better have a room, if they screw this up I will lay the smack down upside the hotel managers head. Could you honestly imagine the crowd of Maverick people all angry. I can and will sleep in my car if it came down to it, but damn those race seats aren't exactly a serta matress. I still would want hotel hospitality though, I could just hang the do not disturb sign on the door handle. For a I could always hook up a bucket of water and hose to the mavs water pump and use the car cover for well cover
